2026-08-31 - Internetworking Education Website Being Built

<< Back

I've done nothing to this website since November of 2023. Oops.

I've lots I can share, but I wanted to note, for the 2 or 3 people that tune into my website manually, that I've been very busy as of late working on a website I have been wanting to make since 2022. I remember writing about it back then. It's funny. I didn't re-read that blog post I made when I started really buckling down on this project, but after reading it now, I've basically created exactly what I was hoping for using a really cool tool (hugo) I discovered a while back, as well as with a fantastic terminal player I discovered in 2023.

I've put all of this together in a very clean way. At this point, I've built the engine-- the hugo framework-- that'll allow me to very freely write the content. I've already started writing some content now.

It will be totally free and open-source, just how it should be. It's distraction-free and privacy-respecting. No user accounts, no AI / LLM-generated content, no bullshit. Just raw, concentrated knowledge and experience I've gathered from over a decade of continuously escalating in this field. This is exactly the type of education website that I was hoping to have when I was studying for my certifications, not to mention while being on the job. That is my barometer for hitting the mark with this website. It is effectively my notes, which I've probably sent to multiple dozens of people throughout the years by now, just finally mastered and compiled in the cleanest possible way I can muster.

Anyway, it's just a technical documentation website. I'm not reinventing anything here (although I've not seen the approach I'm taking anywhere else, so that may be unique). It won't be anything fancy (by design). It'll be great, though! I'm honestly very excited about it and I've been having a lot of fun writing it so far. Even if nobody sees it, having my notes online and formatted exactly how I prefer them will be a blessing. I loathe juggling my obviously antiquated Microsoft Word notes and all of their renditions I've made throughout the years of studying. I've mentioned that people have often liked my, as I see now, rather clunky notes, so I'll be even more excited to share the knowledge with my peers and anyone else who's interested.

The IT field is absolutely littered beyond anyone's comprehension with AI slop that's horribly inaccurate and leading people astray while making them sound like copy/paste drones. It's actually a huge issue that's compounding over time, especially with people's behaviour and attitude around the work they produce. It's genuinely difficult to find information that isn't averaged out into some LLM assumption. This website, if anything, should be a break from all of that for people like myself who need to have confidence that something was written by a human. It's a small step away from a potential dead internet at least. We need far less of that.

I've a lot to write. Once I've some core topics covered, I'll publish the website and note it in another post here. Then, I can finally restructure this beautifully ancient website like I've been wanting to do.

More is to come soon!
